The truth about finding your niche

People often say, "Follow your passion" or "Do what you love to do and you'll never work a day in your life." It's not easy as it sounds although some people , lucky as they are, have found their true purpose and stuck by it. Good for them however, that's not the case for me.

I know I'm still young, 27 years old to be exact, but for most of my life I've been struggling finding my true purpose and passion because it's what's been wired within me to do. I've always had this mentality that if I find my passion, I'll stick with it until I become successful. But the truth is, not everybody will be able to find what they love to do because at each stage in life - from young to adolescent to adult to old age - our choices change.

I remember when I was young I wanted to be a doctor, then came high school I wanted to be a nurse, then at college I wanted to be a Human Resources professional, now that I am an adult, I want to be an entrepreneur. Like, who exactly knows what they want to be at such a young age? Don't get me wrong, I admire those people who set their course and focused on becoming a doctor/ lawyer/ nurse, etc. when they were still in preschool, but let's be honest these people are exceptional and most of us are mediocre. Which is not entirely a bad thing, mediocre is sometimes good because while those exceptional kids are studying so damn hard to become a success, we normal kids are finding time to follow our interests and hobbies that we are having fun doing and eventually learn to love. Though I know we have to practical at some point, however finding your niche isn't about being practical, it's being true to yourself about what you want to do for the rest of your life. And so often the truth is, we will never know our niche, because as I mentioned we change ever so often.

I wrote a quote that says "You can never be just one thing. You are a cluster of many things. For sure you can do all things with God to be everything He's made you to be." This is true, think about it, our bodies are complex yet our functions are simple at the same time. We are a paradox, and we are fearfully and wonderfully made, how beautiful is that? We human beings are a cluster of many things, so we can be anything.

Finding your niche is so outdated or overrated. We can be multi-hyphenate, or better yet a multi-potentialite. We can be anything and everything at once because we are anything and everything at the same time. Just look at our body, as I mentioned. Complex yet simple.

Finding your purpose in life need not to be super complicated, it's simple, we just have to realize that we can indeed learn new things and become different people at each stage in life. If we realize that we can grow and not be stuck in one definition of ourself, only then can we find meaning and true purpose.

So the truth is, finding your niche, is consciously unfinding it and just let life run its course.
